This is a resend, with a PS, the first copy never came back from the server
& its been about 12 hours elapsed. :(
Greetings all;
A script that I have been using for 3 or 4 years seems as if it is now
broken. This script sends inotifywait off the to watch the incoming mail
spool directory, and when a file has been closed, and inotifywait returns
the filename, then sends kmail a message over the dbus circuit to go get
the mail.
That command line that has tickled kmail from my now elderly script:
/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmail /KMail org.kde.kmail.kmail.checkMail
is now eliciting this error on the screen it was launched from:
/usr/bin/qdbus: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtDBus.so.4: undefined
symbol: _ZN14QObjectPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv
So now I have to click on checkmail from time to time as my incoming mail
is no longer automatic.
Can anyone help, or is this a newly hatched bug in libgt4-dbus? Searching
in /var/cache/apt/archives shows that file has not been recently updated,
only:
gene at coyote:/var/cache/apt/archives$ ls -l |grep dbus
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 189452 2012-10-04 08:04

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25456 2012-10-04 08:04 libdbus-1-
dev_1.2.16-2ubuntu4.7_i386.deb
gene at coyote:/var/cache/apt/archives$ ls -l |grep qt4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19624 2012-10-10 15:33 lsb-
qt4_4.0-0ubuntu8.1_i386.deb
Thanks for any clues here.
And a PS of sorts, I've just discovered that about half of my games menu is
disabled by this same message popping up even when I try to run them by
hand. Trying to run kpat for instance:
gene at coyote:/opt/nitros9/level2/modules$ kpat
kpat: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtDBus.so.4: undefined symbol:
_ZN14QObjectPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv
That raises the priority somewhat when the games won't run ;)
Thanks. Or is this something I should take to launchpad?
Cheers, Gene
