How do I disable screen blanking?

I have tried everything I could find within KDE to prevent the blanking
and get the screen saver to work. Nothing worked ... it is either the
proprietary nvidia driver or the BIOS. Haven't found anything in the
BIOS that looks like a reason for it ...
