By saying "scroll wheel USB mouse" can I assume that it a wireless
mouse? If not a wireless mouse then ignore following :-) . Otherwise
consider these:
* is the receiving unit under or behind a monitor? I had a similar
problem when the unit got pushed under and behind the (LCD) monitor. The
monitor's electrics interfered with the signal;
* is the battery in the mouse fully charged? (I use rechargeable
batteries which is why I ask the question.) A few days ago the mouse
stopped working - period. The keyboard was OK and was responsive, the
system was still running but the mouse was 'deaded'. With the speed of
Superman circling the earth looking for Lois Lane I deduced that the
problem may lie in the battery - and this turned out to be correct :-) '
* not really applicable to your situation, but not that long ago the
mouse became lethargic: it would move at a snail's pace and I had to
move it several inches just to move it an inch across the screen. Not
normal and not nice :-) . I don't really know why I did this, but what I
did was to blow into the 'ole wot the laser uses to detect movement;
just a single, quick blow job - and the mice started to work at its
normal well behaved way.
