AMD 64 bit version?

The Itanium is not a 'consumer' or desktop cpu. Systems containing the
Itanium and the OS it needs to run would not have been affordable for the
average user back then. 

 

If it were not for AMD, you would be paying through the nose for 64 bits, as
well as for virtual technology.
