What is the exact model number?

Have you tried Googling the model number and your distro, e.g.

"dlink wg12345" "ubuntu 11.04"

Have you tried it on the PC? If so, what happened?

11.04 is a bit old now and someone recently was asking for help with
problems with a USB Wifi "dongle" - on various pages Google found, the
answer was to upgrade to 11.10.

And of course at the end of next month, 12.04 is out and you will need
to upgrade to 11.10 before you can go to 12.04, so now is a good
time...
