The raid option in many motherboards doesn't work with linux. It's often
called 'fake raid'. If that's the case with yours, it's better to use a raid
controller card or to disable the raid options in the cmos, and use software
raid. (mdadm)
However, say your raid option is working - it's possible the black screen
you're seeing has nothing to do with raid at all, and is more about the
video card. If you were to google "black screen nomodeset", you may find the
answer.
