The * is a wildcard replacement, ls Downloads* will find all folders
and files that start with Downloads followed by anything or nothing
and will perform the ls on that set. In practice what the command
will do is show the contents of the Downloads folder as, assuming
there are no other files or folders starting with Downloads, it is
identical to ls Downloads
Try it.
