Regardless of Ubuntu, Xubuntu or Kubuntu, just:

sudo apt-get install kdenlive

this will probably suggest some extra packages, but if you accept, every 
dependency will get installed automagically. - On a related note, take 
your time to learn the ins and outs of the application. Video editing is 
not for the faint-at-heart, but kdenlive is very friendly in that 
respect. Enjoy!
