Ubuntu 12.04, gnome classic, problem with the sudo list

You say 'user list' here and 'sudo list' in the subject line; where,
exactly, are you looking for the user?

Do you have any other DEs installed (like Unity or XFCE); if so, and
you don't mind trying them, do their tools exhibit the same problem.
