Yes - you probably have a problem with your boot partition / drive. It
needs to be fsck'd.

Boot from an Ubuntu Live CD
Open/Run Terminal

sudo fdisk -l  and note the device you're booting from - suppose it's /dev/sda1

sudo fsck /dev/sda1

Hopefully errors are found and corrected. When the fsck is finished,
restart the laptop normally.
