And which version of coreutils do you suppose provides realpath?
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/i386/coreutils/filelist
http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/i386/coreutils/filelist
I fail to see realpath in either of those. Nor am I able to issue the
command on an Ubuntu 12.04 machine with the latest version of coreutils
for that release. I only see 'realpath' in:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/i386/realpath/filelist
thru quantal.
So let's try this (you can use google or some other search engine as well):
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ubuntu+%2B+realpath
and
http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/coreutils (quantal is the next
realease of Ubuntu, but you can check the others (precise, oneiric, etc)
simply by clicking on them). Now let's have a look and the lower right
of that page:
Similar packages:
manpages-cs
bsdmainutils
mktemp
realpath <=== this is what you are looking for.
plotutils
binutils-doc
gnuradio-utils
mailutils-mh
gzip
inotail
binutils-h8300-hms
And the manpage:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/precise/man3/realpath.3.html
$ apt-cache search realpath
realpath - Return the canonicalized absolute pathname
$ apt-cache policy realpath
realpath:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1.15build1
Version table:
1.15build1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
(pretty much the same on 12.04)
So, unless I'm completely missing the boat, 'realpath' is not provided
in Ubuntu's coreutils.
Note: and please bottom post on this list. You've been on this list long
enough to know better.
