network printing with Samba broken for months, no action taken, this is ridiculous

Hi Frank,

(This is for all, not only you)

You do not need to know programming. You can:
 * run development code, and test it (this is also called "QA",
   although it is not all that QA does). 
 * You can report bugs on both Ubuntu and upstream.
 * You can respond to requests for specific documentation (logs,
   settings, running a specific test & providing the results)
 * and so on.

You certainly can do more that state this is a mess. For example, the
bug link provided by Tom H shows a possible bypass (and the upstream
bug shows a different one, which suggests me there is more than one
bug, or these are different manifestations of the same one). You can
*test* the bypass(es), and report back.

Stating this is a mess, and "oy vey (is mir)", is like hammering cold
iron: makes a lot of noise, pisses off everyone else, and does not
really help much.

Please do more. Please *help*.
