want to confirm proper way to install/config samsung scx-4826fn printer

  a while back, i described problems i was having configuring my
samsung scx-4826fn multifunction printer under ubuntu 11.10 (it had
worked fine using samsung's unified linux driver in earlier versions
of ubuntu).

  the consensus seemed to be that ubuntu 11.10 was problematic for
samsung's unified driver, and i was pointed at this page:

i'm about to try this sometime today, so can anyone confirm that
they've followed that recipe and it works?  or perhaps verify if
samsung has fixed whatever issue they had in their unified driver?
