This sounds like an interesting project. I am an English teacher in a
Spanish speaking country so I could help you with putting Spanish
subtitles, if you can provide me with a transcript in English.
If I understand correctly, (please correct these statements if
misunderstood)
1. the files you already have are in mpeg-2 format.
2. you want to add an audio voice over to the archive and save it again
to either the same or some other format.
3. you can play these source files well
4. when you edit the files you can play them in the video editors
5. while saving to some format the computer shuts off on you.
