Earlier you said that it no longer works on the live USB boot whereas
it used to work with that.  That does not seem to be consistent with
what you are saying now.

What have you set should happen on closing the lid?  Suspend or
Hibernate?  If you do that (whichever it is) using the menus does the
wireless keep working in that case?
