this has nothing to do with ubuntu, please dont blame ubuntu for things
it hasnt done, this option was removed upstream by the xorg developers,
ubuntu only could react to this decision and keep the options to
re-enable it on demand.

this is similar to saying ubuntu would remove configuration options
from the desktop ... it didnt/doesnt, 95% of the removed options you
will miss in your desktop config is removed because gnome developers
decided so, again not an ubuntu decision.
