Looking for a "window thumbs dock" kind of tool.

Can you resize the window to a small size and put it on either side of 
the screen?

But I guess that what you are looking for is a desktop that will temporarily
zoom the window when you move the mouse over it's icon and un-zoom it
when you remove the mouse from the icon. Perhaps the desktop engineers
will intercept this thread and start scratching their heads :)
