How to remove Home icon from desktop

Use 
 gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.desktop home-icon-visible false
at the command line

In Unsettings <http://www.florian-diesch.de/software/unsettings/>
you can switch off "Show Home" in the "Desktop" tab.
