How to remove Home icon from desktop

Many versions ago, IO configured Nautilus to display a Home directory
icon on my desktop. This was done by selecting the relevant option in
gconf-editor (/apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible).
Now I can't find how to remove this icon. In gconf-editor now, the key
mentioned above says 'This key has no schema' and although the option is
not ticked, the icon is still visible.
Anyone know either how to get the schema installed or how to remove the
icon?
Regards,
Tony.
