This happens if you used the nvidia run file, downloaded directly from
nvidia. Any subsequent attempt to use the ubuntu nvidia driver install
methods fails big time. I know... got the t-shirt. You have to use the
nvidia run file to remove it. Just use more on that file and the
instructions to remove it will be there after several pages of scrolling
down. Ric
