Really? I thought it was very clear & obvious, myself.

Warning to Americans & other non-British list-members: when reading
posts from Brits, Kiwis & Aussies, set sarcasm & irony detectors to
"very high".

I have noticed over my ~20 years on Usenet & mailing lists that
American readers are generally severely irony-impaired & tend not to
notice it. Often, when they do, they are very offended: "how dare
these impertinent foreigners joke with me?" seems to be the response.

This is a tad pedantic, but true, which is the specific reason I
advised the OP /not/ to use this combination.
