Troubles after update to kernel 3.0.0.18

Hi 

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 (32bit). Yesterday, the update manager updated my
system to kernel 3.0.0.18. 
Since this update, my Ubuntu has become almost unusable. Firefox closes
suddenly, without any warning and randomly. The same behaviour happens
with Evolution.

If I boot my Ubuntu with a previous kernel (3.0.0.17), everything works
fine, as usual. :-)

Anyone else has observed weird behaviour on Ubuntu and kernel 3.0.0.18 ?
