When dpkg install a package, when popularity-contest work, when I copy a file on Hard Disk, I can't use my computer, all interfaces are freeze

So it's not popularity-contest. One down.

I'm not overly familiar with Mac's. Can you advise on the exact model?

If you can do that, then it's a lot easier to search launchpad etc., for
issues.
