synaptic SOLVED and mirrors

Finally found it on the web, remove software-properties-gtk
...now the settings/repositories window opens. I must have pushed a red
button and installed it, like a lunk. 

Now, how to select mirrors to usa?? That one eludes me. I keep seeing
apt-get and synaptic trying Translations, Translation-en and
translations-en-USA and never seeming to DO anything useful while
stalling all the damn time. I could live without that nicely. Ric
