I know - this is why I asked you to *try* to mount it through the terminal -
you'll get to see any error messages which might assist you (and us) in
determining what the problem is.
Try this.
Plug the USB stick in. Hopefully you'll see the access light on the stick,
if it has one, blink a few times.
Open the terminal
type 'mount'
post the complete output along with the last couple of hundred lines of your
syslog (all we're interested in here is what the syslog emits when you
insert this drive - we don't need to see thousands of lines of your machine
booting up). Put this onto pastebin and post a link to it.
