Unable to open usb drive in ubuntu

My usb being open in windows but in linux (ubuntu),system shows it but when
i click on it to open,it doesn't open.If i directly try to copy its contents
,it gives the error
"There was an error copying the file into /home/amrit/Desktop"
"Can't open mountable file"

please anybody help to to get rid of it.
