Interesting - not met that remix before. Looks nice but the reviews
are very mixed.
Either way, though, it can't stay with GNOME 2, because it's dead now.
The Mate desktop might be able to continue development but it's too
early to say for sure. Trinity - the KDE3 fork - died young, I
believe.
