unity panel make sticky

I am not trying to steal the thread here, but rather ask some kind of
a follow-up question. I am still on Ubuntu 10.10 since the upper (and
only) panel in 11.04 couldn't be auto-hided. Is this possible in
11.10? If so, I might give it another try…
