What version of Ubuntu? I suggest you try the latest, 11.10.
32-bit or 64-bit?
The 64-bit version will handle your 6G of RAM better, but the 32-bit
one will work and will still access all the RAM if you use what is
called a "PAE" kernel. But you can install it and try in any case.
