No sound after, uncomplete?, upgrade

Well the system should now be at least properly upgraded.

If you have a live CD of 11.10 you could test if maybe the problem has
something to do with the initial failed upgrade.

The good news is that you previously had sound so ALSA should support
your sound hardware.

I'm using an older Ubuntu version but these commands should work:

lspci | grep audio       <--- identify audio devices on the PCI bus
cat /proc/asound/cards   <--- does ALSA see the audio hardware ?

  Thanks but I gived up. I deleted all and started over again with 11.04.
