Transfering a desktop configuration to another machine

I had to build a new machine to replace my current desktop machine, and for reasons
too tedious to describe, I had to do a clean install of Xubuntu 11.04. The xfce panel and other
configurations took me quite some time to set up previously, and I have all the files.

How can I restore/import/bring in the old panel items so I don't have to start from scratch? My Google
skills bring up hundreds of irrelevant links. Any pointers would be appreciated.
