Clock in menu bar says "Time"

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, it still just says "Time".
Between the purge and the re-install, it still showed "Time", but when
I clicked Date & Time Settings... the dialog was unavailable. Now the
dialog is back. In the Clock tab, if I uncheck "Show a clock in the
menu bar", "Time" goes away and the sound, network, messaging and
keybaord layout indicators shift right to take its place. Then if I
again click the checkbox to reselect it, the word "Time" reappears and
those other 4 indicators shift left again to make room.
