unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) works fine-even making
a bootable SD for another machine on a 1999/USB 1.1 machine.

Is there a way to find total numbers of Hard disk attached or mounted
on remote servers totaling around 200 Servers running Ubuntu Linux
Server 10.04 and 8.04 and also the number of RAM Chips attached to the
system. Any utility or some gui tool from client desktop ?

After approximately 12 hours of non sense the installer crashed.
I hate Linux for these reasons.I installed windows 2 years back and
every thing till today runs as professional as any thing.
Every month I need to do an update to Ubuntu some new arbit release
happens.Some thing crashes and here I am left the whole day
formatting my hard disk like an idiot as if I don't have any thing
else in the world to do and when you tell such a thing to an open
source community
you are looked as if you did some thing horribly wrong the truth is
Ubuntu sucks.

There is nothing wrong with Linux or Ubuntu, as millions of people can tell
you. Ubuntu is perfectly stable up to version 11.04.

You are having problems, but it's for some other reason than the OS. Your
computer is malfunctioning, or something you're doing is wrong, or some
software package you're installing is making it unstable.

It can also be a combination of the above. Computer systems are complicated,
and take a lot of time and experience to learn how repair.

Don't give up on it.

sounds like a problem that is typically caused by downloading and
burning the ISO image on one machine and trying to use it on another
which struggles to read the CD.

Burn the ISO image at the slowest possible speed you can.

Issue really doesn't have anything to do with Linux or Ubuntu - problem
is strictly hardware related.

Hi All

A friend of mine has a Windows XP PC which takes ages to boot.
He is willing to try Linux (I want to install Ubuntu 11.10) but he has
one specific request.
He absolutely needs to be able to run iTunes (and it should not crash!).

What is the best option to do this? Using a virtual windows is not
what I want, since
that would mean I could just as easily install windows.

There is Wine (good luck with that).
If he is tied to itunes, then stay with windows.

Yes, there are players that work like itunes but the whole protection of the songs makes it nearly impossible for a new Linux user to deal with hacks that might be out there.

If he is a purchaser of songs, and isn't tied to the player, there are alternatives. 

For example, I buy my songs from Amazon (no DRM protection) and I use Amarok for the player.
