i checked this on the live cd and wasn't really able to find a solution
with the info. on the live cd there's just one connection "Auto
ethernet" and if i pick that one on my HD install i still can't access
the internet. i can delete some of the other connections (not the
'ifupdown (eth0)' and 'ifupdown (br0)'), but it doesn't make any difference.
i also noticed on the live CD the file
/etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf has 'managed=false' but on
mine it is 'managed=true'. if i set it false then the Network Manager
icon gets a red X on it and the system is disconnected from the network.
