I can think two options.

1. The thing you did with Microphone slot.

2. Connect your headphones slot, with the "Line in" slot in your
computer, and in Sound Preferences, in Input tab you select "Line-in".

3. Stream your music with a music server. That is, the person you are
talking with, will connect to your system and listen the music, the
way Internet radio stations work.
