KAddressBook no longer runs under 11.04

I have been using KAddressBook for some time to hold details of my
contacts, although I use the Gnome desktop.

Now, since upgrading to 11.04, I find KAddressBook will not run and I can't
access my contacts.

By 'will not run' I mean that clicking on the menu icon does nothing at all,
and nor does entering /usr/bin/kaddressbook on the command line.

I have tried re-installing it, which appears to complete successfully. Some
other kde apps, like KColorChooser and Kpatience work OK, so it doesn't
seem to be a general 'K' issue.

I'd be grateful for suggestions
