[OT] Interesting threads on Gnome desktop-devel-list

This post is meant to be more of announcement than a source for 
discussion on this list. It's clearly offtopic, so if you wish to respond 
please do so at a suitable venue like http://groups.google.com/group/
bikeshed. 

The following topics on the Gnome desktop developer list is, I think, a 
glimpse of the foundational perspectives of the various Gnome developers. 
Both topics discussed have important ramifications for Ubuntu and other 
downstream projects employing Gnome tech.  I would encourage interested 
readers who aren't necessarily familiar with the names on the that list, 
to do a little background searching on them and take note of their stated 
opinions and commonality with the other discussion participants.
