How to install Gnome 3 on Ubuntu 11.04 and still have a stable system?

Amedee, one of my users installed Xubuntu instead of Ubuntu for this
round. He is very satisfied though I myself have not looked at it. It
is very similar to Gnome he reports, and he says it is not sluggish
anymore (I did not even know that he felt Gnome was sluggish). In
truth he downloaded Xubuntu by accident as I actually recommened
Kubuntu, not Xubuntu!
