Maybe we need to get back to basics a bit to try and boot ME. Have a
look at
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html#Chain_002dloading
in the Grub 2 manual.
Grub 2 differs from Grub Legacy in two main ways. First it is modular
(like modern kernels) so you must load the necessary modules (these are
all in /boot/grub) for the situation and secondly the drive numbering is
different.
So in the above example there is a module called 'chain' loaded. Maybe
this is required for all chainloader situations. Unfortunately the
manual does not say what each module does.
Also in the example the first partition on the first drive is (hd0,1).
I have sent an email to help-grub at gnu.org to ask if Grub 2 will boot ME.
