Aptitude--any users!

I am not disputing there are features aptitude has which apt-(get/cache) doesn't.
My point was just there must be some reason why the powers that be picked apt-get over aptitude for the default installation. Given they both perform the basic tasks of installing and uninstalling software, there is no reason to put both on the installation CD.
I suspect you are unlikely to get an answer on this list. I suggest you try your luck on ubuntu-devel.
