Really, the only way to eliminate top posting is for everyone to completely 
ignore posts which use it.  As to the subject line, 10.04 is the current LTS 
release and actually will outlast (longer time to EOL) some of the "update 
releases" which followed it.  It is the best choice of people looking for a 
more stable working environment.
