nvidia-173 is not installed (according to Synaptic).

jockey-gtk shows that version 173 is grey/not activated.  Current is
green/activated but not currently in use.

btw this issue is more of an issue with windows not visible under
ubuntu/unity.  The windows appear on "Ubuntu Classic".
