Umm, you haven't quite answered the question..... under 
System>Administration>Nvidia X Server Settings what is shown for your 
model of ViewSonic, what is the nvidia driver being used [**] and what 
is the model name of your nVidia graphics card?

[**] Did you install this driver using (1) 
System>Administration>Additional Drivers or (2) did you install it 
directly from the nVidia website itself?
