I am in the process of seting up a remote syslog server to recieve messages
from a number of machines. The server is a FreeBSD machine, and I have some
other machines alreay`dy sending messages to it. But I am having difculty
getting my Ubutu machines to work with it.
I have added the following line to /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf :
*.* @XX.YY.ZZ.AA
Wher XX.YY.ZZ.AA us the IP address of the remote syslog server. I have
added this line just above the existing line:
auth,authpriv.* /var/log/auth.log
But no messages ar appaearing in the logfiles on the remote machine from
the Ubuntu machines. I have even tried sending a message manually using
logger, still no luck.
What am I doing wrong?
