Here I DID get the "open in terminal" option upon right-clicking.

Yes, I think I understand, that I have to right-click a folder in the 
RIGHT pane.
With 10.04 this did not work
With 10.10 it did.

But since this is working now, I consider the matter [solved]
Thank you all.

(I will need to check out that "tab trick" ....)
