It was a clean install of kubuntu 10.4 that had me tossing three stones
at it, saying "I divorce thee, I divorce thee, I divorce thee." For an
LTS version, living with Pulse botched up until the next LTS (they
announced they would "fix it" for version 10.10) just knocked my silly
hat off. So, with my panties in a snitch, I cleanly loaded Ubuntu. Hey!
This WORKS! Sound gloriously pouring forth in 5.1. surround, my DVD's
playing as Steven Spielberg intended me to hear! I gibbered. I cried
with delirious Joy! Then I noticed I needed a quick trip to the Loo.
Yeah, that happy!

But, I still disliked Gnome (OK, I despise it, hate it and from Hell's
Heart I secretly spit at thee who don't). So, I figure what the heck and
loaded KDE, logged in and my sound still worked! Best of both worlds and
I'm still running 10.4 with KDE on top of an Ubuntu install. I highly
recommend it. Plus, with the traditional menu button invoked, I have a
better version of KDE3. I know, retro. But it's my comfort zone, and I'm
happy and productive. It doesn't get any better in Linux Land. But
loading Kubuntu? Nah... I'd have to go into Khan mode again.

Ah! The Supreme Court decided I can go into pretend ultra violent mode,
as long as it's on a computer, so don't get me started! :) Ric
