There are many articles about this, below is one.

The short of it is that Asa Dotzler, Mozilla's Firefox product manager, has
made himself crystal clear that the current version (now 5) ends support for
all previous versions.

This means that you can't remain with an older version (not even a year old)
having its bugs and security fixed -- you have to go with the current
version that always has new bugs and security leaks.
