Sorry, I wasn't implying that you were not using it. I just wanted to
be sure.

I use a HP printer with the standard HPLIP driver and it offers me
options, like duplex printing, that my printer just does not have. If
you run
lpoptions -l
you will get a list from CUPS of options that the printer driver
(purports) to support and what the current defaults are (with an
asterisk). If duplex printing is not listed, you can be pretty sure it
is not available. But, from my experience, the converse is not always
true.
There is a message board on the Avasys site. You could try asking about
your problems there.
