Hi NoOp,

Thanks a lot, I solved the problem with your advice.

I read the bug report and I followed the indications.
apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-2.6.38-8
apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-current

Then, I renamed /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
And finally, I rebooted.

Then, I got a message telling me that my hardware is not capable of
running Unity. Which is not a problem at all for me. So, the session
started with the Gnome Windows Manager.

So, right now, I am writing to you from my computer.
Now everything is working fine again.

Some lessons I learned.

1. Ask questions less aggressively (even if you are pissed-off).

2. Never install a non-LTS Ubuntu version.

3. Be patient. And there will always be some good soul with the right
answer.

4. When there is a problem do not re-install everything from scratch. It
is a loss of time.

5. Gnome is the best. It always works. Do not use Unity.

Thanks.

Cheers,
