Your card should work with natty, even if it has issues with Unity.
nVidia recommends the 275 driver:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-275.09.07-driver.html
However it should also run with the 270 driver. Interesingly, Ubuntu
doesn't provide the 275 driver in natty:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers
only in ocelot.
Do you by chance have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? If so can you
remove/rename it and try booting again?
